Like a slogan or a fan song, agnès b. loudly proclaims her love for Africa and its creators with the exhibition “Vive l’Afrique !!” , organized in collaboration with her sidekick André Magnin. Between them, a beautiful and long friendship punctuated by collaborations that began more than thirty years ago, in 1989, when Magnin initiated agnès b. to contemporary African art.
With this exhibition, they present in the Galerie du jour – recently installed in the brand new Fab. of agnès b. in the 13th district -: Seyni Awa Camara, Amadou Sanogo, Ana Silva, Frédéric Bruly Bouabré, JD ‘Okhai Ojeikere, Seydou Keïta and Malick Sidibé. Painting, drawing, sculpture and photography are all media used by these talented artists, discovered and represented by the Magnin A. gallery, and supported by the stylist and patron agnès b..
This exhibition is part of the programming of the “Africa 2020” cultural season, postponed due to the global pandemic. So, in addition to this exhibition, various cultural venues (130 throughout France) present events highlighting culture and especially the contemporary African art scene, from music to literature, including fashion and visual arts.
